] + ]: While this combo has no real color identity its discard themes obviously make it best suited for mono-B or Rakdos with a focus on discard or wheel effects.I wouldn't call it a staple but it does have its applications in niche meta's where thief effects see a lot of play. Homeward path was only ever in commander products so we may see it again in one of the later precons or even commander legends at the end of the year. Budget: Humble Defector: $0.21 + Homeward Path: $7.92 = $8.15: Humble defector is dirt cheap and is being reprinted again in the pre-cons.This one is not as strong as the other two as you can really only get one activation a turn. Incidentally, you could also make an agreement with someone and just pass the defector back and forth but then they also get to draw cards, and you have to trust they will keep their word. It is also relatively cheap mana wise as Defector as a 2 drop and on turn 3 you could be drawing 2 extra cards a turn, though since path is a land it does cost you a mana essentially to activate. ] + ]: This could go into a number of decks and is a pretty versatile combo. Dreadhorde is a much cheaper option from a newer set which was widely opened. Budget: Skullclamp: $4.50 + Bitterblossom: $22.25/Dreadhorde Invasion: $0.56 = $26.75/$5.05: Same as above for clamp, Bitterblossom did just see a kind of reprint in a Secret Lair but the cheapest is from a Master's set.Total Cost: 1 mana and 1 life to 2 card ratio. Bitterblossom will continue to go wide while Invasion will just make it's token taller so you need to clamp it the turn you play it but essentially works as a budget option, though the two Skullclamp options before could net you multiple activations in a turn this will only allow for one. Both cards create cause you to lose 1 life and create a token which you can clamp immediately for 2 cards. Bitterblossom could also be paired with Mentor of the Meek to pay 1 mana and one life to draw a single card. I opted for two cards that have really what is a somewhat similar effect and both would slot in to an aristocrats style deck.
